So, after all of those years of hard work, you have accepted into East Carolina University.  First, congratulations!  It isn’t easy to be a Pirate and if you were accepted, it means you have a lot to offer.  Making that move to your own place, preferably in a place off campus, is going to be a bit tough.  Finding apartments near ECU (East Carolina University) isn’t going to be the tough part.  The tough part comes in with the actual move.  However, there are plenty of professionals to help you out.

Packing

Packing boxes is something that no one likes to do.  Thankfully, there are plenty of companies out there that are willing to do the packing for you.  These professionals can come in to a home and have everything professionally and safely packed within hours.  The downside to this is that when they are packing, they are packing.  They expect that you have already sifted through your belongings to discard the unwanted items or garbage.  So, if you go this route, make sure that you go through your stuff before the pack.  Otherwise, you may end up just transferring junk from one place to another.

Moving

Some people prefer to pack their own items and that is understandable!  Once you have everything packed, though, you will likely want to get it to your new place in one trip.  There are movers that are around to help you out.  They will have big trucks and big guys to carry all of your belongings, furniture included.  This is what they do for a living and they are great at it, so you can rest assured that your belongings will be safe during the move.

Now that your child is a bona fide cheerleader, there are going to be plenty of things that you will need to do as a parent to make sure that they are at the top of their game.  One of those things that you will have to do is send your child to cheer camp.  Cheer camp is a vital part of making sure that your child is as prepared as they can be when the next season starts as well as giving them a leg up on the competition.  When you send your child out there, you want to make sure you send them with all of the tools to succeed.

Style Is Everything

As you can probably imagine, cheerleading camp is going to be full of plenty of people, all wanting to be the best looking person at the camp as well as the best cheerleader.  When your child is going to camp, you don’t want to send them off with clothing suited for a fashion show, however.  Rather, you simply want to make sure that the clothes that they have and the accessories that go with them are stylish enough to make a good impression.  Some girls enjoy a bit of flash so they wear a rhinestone cheer bow to make a splash.  Others may choose certain jewelry to make that impression.  Whatever you choose, it should be stylish.

Acceptance

For a child, finding the perfect balance between individuality and acceptance can be tough.  Not every child in San Antonio is going to be accepting of every other child.  No matter how stylish your child is or how well they do at their sport, there will always be those who try to knock them down a bit.  While the adults at the cheer camp will do their best to make sure to avoid any sort of negative confrontation between the children, they may not always be successful.  Before your child heads to camp, make sure that they know there will be these negative people and do what you can to teach them to avoid this bit of trouble.

Not all nonprofit organizations revolve around feeding the needy.  There are organizations that benefit education, the planet, the planet’s atmosphere, animals, the arts and more.  But helping a fellow human being with a single, solitary meal… How hard is that really folks?  Have you really, really looked around San Antonio lately?  There is someone out there that needs your help.

I Know, I Know… Everyone Wants Your Money

Here’s the deal folks… You don’t have to give money in order to help to feed the needy.  What are you planning on doing this weekend?  Going to a baseball game, playing tennis, watching that movie you’ve been waiting to see, possibly just sitting in the yard and getting a tan?  Would it kill you to drive to the nearest soup kitchen and spoon up a couple of ladle fulls of soup onto the plate of someone that maybe hasn’t eaten in a couple of days?  Is that really too much to ask?  Okay, so you don’t want to schlep on downtown and park in a bad part of the city.  You don’t have a lot of money to donate so that’s out.  I know... on your way home from work today what would happen if you stopped at the dollar store and picked up a couple of cans or boxes of food and threw them in the barrel at the checkout counter?  No dollar store in your area?  Pick up the cheapest canned or boxed foods you possibly can and throw those in the barrel at the checkout of your favorite grocery store instead. Just 2 or 3 is fine.

When ‘Non Profit’ Is A Way Of Life

An individual named Yank Barry is known for his well known rendition of “Louie Louie” back in the good old days between 1968 in 1970.  So what’s he up to these days?  Nothing much, just  getting nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize!  Say what??  How did that happen?  Take a gander at this: Mr. Barry has been the recipient of the 2011 GLA philanthropist of the year award, social services’ Gusi peace prize, the Red Cross’s humanitarian award, India’s humanitarian service award and the Juarez Mexico hands of love award.  Not only that but international and national as well as humanitarian awards numbering no less than 20.  Working with the likes of is Evander Holyfield, Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiáo (is it me or are you sensing a trend here) he has joined the ranks of world renowned philanthropists.

Keeping San Antonio Clean

Some neighborhoods in San Antonio have started a pilot program for organic recycling.  And though in many establishments, smoking is frowned upon, you can still do your part to keep the air clean and become healthier.  You can do that by enjoying an electronic cigarette, whenever you feel a craving. Going green is something that many of America’s cities are already involved in and although San Antonio could improve upon their efforts, they are at least getting off on the right foot.  They could probably stand a little bit of improvement, where public transportation is concerned, as well, but with all San Antonio has going for it one should not be overly concerned.  In fact according to Mark Twain, San Antonio is one of the four most unique cities in the United States of America, comparable to San Francisco, New Orleans and Boston.  In keeping with economics, San Antonio is a beginning entrepreneur’s dream come true.

If you are a wine connoisseur you probably won’t be as surprised as others when you hear that some truly unique wineries can be found in Texas Hill Country.  So successful is the growing of grapes in this warm climate, that over 200 wineries now decorate the countryside.  What’s a party without something to drink?  You’ve got your wine now where’s the party?  Mardi Gras is probably one of the biggest and most well-known parties in not just New Orleans, but all of America.  But, San Antonio isn’t backing down.  Starting back as far as 1891, San Antonio has celebrated its Fiesta Week.  This is in fact one of the economic booms to the area, generating over $280 million for the area.

If you have a family, you would be well served by beginning your new home in San Antonio.  With fine wine and the incredible culinary treats that this area has to offer, there is a little something for everyone. A city park, museums, a zoo and amusement park are just some of the family oriented attractions that this city has to offer.  Good old San Antone - what’s not to love?

If you have recently had a childbirth experience, your road to recovery may be longer than you anticipated.  The best thing to do is to remain patient and follow the recovery plan that your doctor has prescribed.  After a vaginal delivery, it is not uncommon to experience vaginal soreness, especially of a tear was suffered during childbirth.  Your doctor may not prescribe any medication unless the pain is severe.  Instead, you may be instructed to soothe the area with warm water during urination or apply a “sanitary napkin, Witch Hazel compress” to the area.  Other postpartum medical problems are more serious and require more aggressive treatment.

Visiting Your Doctor

Your healthcare provider will probably schedule a visit about two weeks after you give birth.  You will most likely have another appointment about six weeks later.  However if you have health issues in between those visits you should not hesitate to contact your doctor.  The body undergoes a lot of stress during childbirth, your organs actually shift somewhat during pregnancy and afterwards they should return to their normal position.  Your doctor will ask you several questions about things like your bowel movements and urination.  These questions are meant to give your doctor important information, about your recovery.  You should answer these questions truthfully, even if they seem embarrassing.

Infections After Childbirth

Infections can be a problem postpartum, too.  Endometriosis is the most common infection after delivery and women who have C-sections run a higher risk.  Additionally, urinary infections are also sometimes a problem.  Endometriosis is usually evident due to a foul smelling discharge; pain in the abdomen area is also often a symptom.  Many times a urinary tract infection (UTI) goes unrecognized, until many weeks after delivery.  UTI’s are not always easily recognizable and because of that, it may go untreated for some time.  If pain or difficulty is experienced during urination, you frequently have the urge to urinate, or if the urine is red in color or extremely cloudy, that can be a sign of a UTI.  You will need antibiotics to treat both Endometriosis and a UTI.  It is important to follow your doctor’s advice and complete the full regimen of antibiotics, even when you start to feel better.  Otherwise, you run the risk of the infection returning.

Your postpartum recovery may seem difficult at times, but following your doctor’s advice will make the process go smoother and help you make a full recovery while enjoying your new little bundle of joy.

Is It a Bird, Is It a Plane, Is It the Family Pet?

If you really want to get creative you could design baby Halloween Costumes that mimic people that try to dress their pets up in costumes, ordinarily reserved for humans.  Don’t get all bent out of shape, it’s not all that degrading for the baby.  The pets on the other hand…  Consider dressing your baby up as a cat, a dog, bird, or some other domesticated animal that we insist on treating as children rather than pets.  Take it easy pet lovers, I’m as guilty of it as you are.  This is just a little bit of a different spin on things is all.  Of course you can go for the cute factor, which is probably what most people are tempted to do with a baby.

Hold the cards and letters, because tastefulness has never been one of my finer qualities but… you can always dress your baby up, and yourselves, as zombies.  You know, one of the walking dead.  I told you, it may not be in the best of taste, but it’s fun.  Loosen up a little man, it’s Halloween.
