Mother’s Day gifts run the gamut from homemade cards all the way to expensive engraved jewelry. Sometimes less is more; but sometimes you just have to go all out to show Mom just how much she means to you. It’s only fair after all; she carried you around for nine miserable months and went through 86 hours of mind blowing labor pains in order to bring you into this world… You know the spiel.
Do It Yourself Is OK For Kids
Kids can get away with homemade cards, arts and crafts projects and the lot. Moms cherish those things for some reason and think the world of the effort that it must have taken for that child to put a crayon to paper. I remember the days when my mom said that something that I made with my little hands was better than anything that I could have purchased from a store; which was good because I was too young to have a job and had no idea of the monetary value of coins and printed money.
Don’t Count On Getting Away With That As You Get Older
Once you have a job however, and can understand the meaning of money (even marginally); homemade isn’t going to cut it for long. It’s time to use your imagination in a completely different manner. Talk to Dad if he’s around and ask him what he thinks; not that he’s going to know. As a rule fathers and husbands are relatively clueless.
When all else fails, a gift certificate to Mom’s favorite spa, hairdresser or store can go a long ways.
